Social Responsibility
Introduction
In the history of human development social responsibility had played a essential role in making society a better place. Social responsibility is an ethical theory which applies to both individual and group. Ethic concerns what we should do better whether we are willing to do it or not. The term social responsibility comparises two terms i.e social and responsibility. Social responsibility means individual's or compang's duty or moral obligations to act in the best interest in society. Every social action should have a benefit effect on society. This, social responsibility is achieved when an equilibrium is maintained between eco development and welfare of the society. An individual's decision causes harm to society when he/she is socially irresponsible. Man is a social animal and it is responsibility of each and every individual to act towards the benefit of an individual rather being self-centred.
The theory of social responsibility is based on moral values i.e it create difference between right and wrong. Women as an integral part of our society has leads of social responsibility to perform for the continuity of our society and also for our society and also for our economic development. Social responsibility is a very broad concept and covers has very wide scope as within it various principles, values, code of behaviour is covered. When we talk about society here among members we find mutual responsibility which is responsible in making solid foundation of the society which protects society from collapsing or splitting apart. Social responsibility in society are divided between men and women in a way that guarantees the material and spiritual foundation of the society which further leads to socio-political and economic and cultural development of the family. The concept of the responsibility is intergenerational as the action of one generations have consequences on the next one. Women play an important role in making better decision at corporate world. As a good commutator, women can help to create a corporate social responsibility vision. Women are more suitable than me are to give their wages and time for the welfare of society. Also, women as a mother gives their resources towards the children's development and community.
Men's and women's Responsibility according to societal perception
Gender is an integral component of the society and different social responsibility are ascribed by society to men and women. Men's social responsibility is attached with family as well as society. The role of men in family is defined by social convention to be the bread-winner of the family. He is expected to be the head of family the leader of women and children, meant to provide well for them financially, a right given to him because of being the sole earner of the family. Men also play the role of protector and provider and also handles tasks related to economic development of society and nation building. The also acknowledge their social responsibility for maintaining harmony, solidarity, law and order in the society. They are responsible to excercise power to act in the best interest of the environment and society as a whole. This, social responsibility are enacted in such a way, the men leads to created ethical balance between dual responsible of family, workplace and society. Putting up an image of toughness and maintaining steady income of all costs is their social responsibility, failing which often leads to critisism.
Women have been playing vital roles in household since ages. The social responsibility of a women is to be the supporting figure. She is expected to stand by while men in her family achieves greatness and she or may not be given some credit for it. She is expected to be in the background doing all the chores and duties of a 'good wife' and a good 'mother' . A women is expected to cook, clean, take care of the sick, run the household through her allowances. She is taught to be obedient to her husband. If she has to work, it should be under the circumstance when the man of her family does not earn enough, and she is expected to choose roles fit for her gender, Now women are also recognised for their value in the work place and are engaged in wide range of activities of work in addition to their routine domestic work. Women are allowed to work in today's life, but still they are facing lot more problem in social as well as professional life to balance both as priority need. Indian working are not supposed to do extra hours duty or night shift work as lack of family support.
